Regulatory Compliance and Best Practices:
Adhering to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines is essential for workplace safety:
- Calibration and Bump Testing: OSHA recommends performing a calibration check before each day's use of direct-reading portable gas monitors. If the instrument fails the initial check, a full calibration using zero gas and span gas should be conducted.
- Regular Maintenance: Gas monitors, especially those with electrochemical sensors, may experience calibration drift over time. It is advisable to perform bump tests every three to six months to ensure accuracy. Infrared gas sensors typically require calibration every six months.
- Confined Space Monitoring: Before entering confined spaces, OSHA mandates testing the internal atmosphere using a properly calibrated instrument to check for oxygen content, flammable gases and vapors, and potential toxic air contaminants.
Our Commitment to Quality:
At IPS, we maintain an extensive inventory of commonly used parts and calibration gases to ensure prompt service and minimal equipment downtime. Our factory-certified technicians are dedicated to providing reliable and efficient service, ensuring your gas detection equipment operates accurately and in compliance with safety regulations.
